Two things combined you should avoid like the plague ...........   wife & shoe shops .

You do know that after visiting every shoe shop in the Northern Hemisphere ...the female of the species then returns to the first ones they looked at ................and buys them :C

ha ha. well if I were you I'd make sure they are a good fit and comfy because it sounds like you are about to hit the world of trying to keep fit. It seems that you have little choice in the matter. I have asked for a pair of new ones for my up and coming birthday, Trouble is Mrs R is more interested in the look and colour than how much actual use they would be for running!

Gave my 15 year old boy and the neighbours 16 year son a lift home from the school bus top yesterday. I said "All ready then for a weekend's gaming then?" meaning stuck in front of the console etc. This kid surprised me when he said "Nah, I'll be training!". Then proceeded to tell me his running route round the local farms. He followed it up with "You've got to do it, haven't you?". Think he's after impressing the girls tbh.

He wasn't too impressed when I recounted my running attempts. The first goal was to reach this kid's drive which is just up the road.........they have a big spread with posh sliding gates etc. I kid you not the SECOND goal was to reach the other side of his drive.

The salt bin was my downfall, couldn't seem to run past it. Like a magical line I couldn't cross or maybe that it was uphill thereafter.

All joking aside and despite only ever managing to run half a mile in total before it all petered out I did start to feel better for breaking a sweat and getting the lungs pumping. Would cure a headache if I came in with one.

Maybe I'll have another crack at it............or another beer.......

Ah well, im home now and not a trainer in sight :)

But I am attempting to eat healthier... no bread, biscuits, chocolate, crisps, pop, etc and ive already lost 2 - 3 inches on my waist... still got a fair bit to go

I am on a stolychnia vodka and 'merlot diet".........i lost 2 days last week!

Stolen from ( i think) Tommy Cooper

I decided Easter time that my suit was getting a bit tight and so I made a conscious effort to cut out the crap. I used to buy a bag of 'something' every time I went to the petrol station etc. I decided to accept beign hungry rather than snacking. For the first time in over 10 years I am below 14 stone. Was actually easy.

TBH I'm not finding it difficult either,,, so long as the crap isn't there I don't want it... I still have my normal breakfast (fruit & fibre and a coffee) a bowl of salad for my lunch and then a normal evening meal... I'm not even hungrynso it just goes to show that I ate an load of crap for no reason at all

BTW I'm not seeing this as a diet,, I see this as a change for the rest of my life

And if I got anywhere near 15 stone then I'd be chuffed as anything as that would be a hell of a change for me

Noz, I was 15 st 6 a couple years ago after 3 years working in an office at Anglesey Aluminium. Was a shock A year later I was down to about 15 but still didnt feel healthy. I started using myfitnesspal.com and logging what I ate and exercised and within about 6 weeks had lost a stone then continued over the next couple years its been up and down between 13 and 13.6 so quite happy to have found a system that works.

I've started my morning with a combination of healthy eating and exercise, no added sugar Alpen, semi skimmed milk. The exercise bit.............tea in a Sports Direct mug!
