whats wrong with volex? good value!
They are normaly crap! but this is a personal view and in no way reflects the qualitity of a first class mass produced piece of plastic which should be thoughtfully disposed of (as soon as possible).

Just a quick note on stacking CU's - Denmans basics range have some good quality RCD enclosures with nice knockouts for conduit top and bottom. These could be coupled together easily to make a 17th stacked board.

it is interesting how we develope our own little prejudices! :D
I quite like volex. Allways use them on outbuildings as you can terminate an swa through 25mm nylon gland direct into them. Never had any call backs on failed Rcd's must have fitted at least forty since I have done outbuildings. Never used them on houses as I usually use either MK or Contactum. But I cannot see a problem with them. Now Wylex is another story have had a lot of call backs on there failed gear.

fairy snuff,

I sit to be corrected,

sorry,

but I still reckon MOST MCBs are not rated >240v,

as most main switches are also not rated >240v, (I know some are, ie HAGER)

maybe I'll have to try find out some more about this,

I was always under the impression there was a big NO NO in using 1Phase stuff on 3Phase boards.

All the MCB's i could find in my van (merlin gerin, MK, crabtree and some others) were all the same

All the breakers are pretty much the same, the wholesaler will have SP and TP boards and the same pile of breakers to go with each

Cheers patch I may give them a try they look like they have more room for Rcbo's as busbar is quite low down. I tend to fit Rcbo's rather than 17th edition boards.

And I know where to come if I get short of lamps.

:D

is an RCD acceptable (under 16th) as a main switch?
