Called to a light falling off of the ceiling & tripped mcb.

The gent of the house can fly jumbo jets but cant fathom how to fit a light to a flat surface.

His words to me " the fitting is poorly manufactured it doesnt cover the mounting base plate & cables"

depending on the light & space inside, i have managed to leave the existing pendant base in many times. but you have to put bracket between plate & ceiling, not like the pic!

how about this that was fitted by a tenant, they couldn't understand the problem and they have changed every single light fitting, switch and socket in the house

thats exactly as it was found as well when dropped from the ceiling, notice the neutrals have fallen out and the bare loop live
