Why not through crimp to a propper isolator. a through crimp can be placed under a floor so would be a better job all together.

TBH if your mate is doing thinks like thay clear. there is no point in going to collage if your going to be a bodger.

NO, NO and thrice NO! as far as an acceptable method of connecting the cables is concerned. Also I am concerned/confused about the 'singles'. Are these actually 6491Xs without any mechanical protection? If so, then this is also wrong. As this is a cooker supply and so could potentially have 'quite a load' on it, coupled with the fact that things get hot and nasty it should be sorted out quickly AND correctly................ :coat

sounds like a rewire of cooker circuit may be required possibly with more than one circuit.
