Seriously..........

Mate wants to make a set for his boat as in space saving, PIR activated etc. Where can he get a suitable air ram / "linear actuator"? Sort of thing you used to see on Pimp My Ride.

This is a different mate to the one who wants the "Knightrider Gates".......I do seem to attract them!

Cheers

The most important detail is to get the "whooosh" noise correct as the open.

So what boat is this then?  My little tub has neither the space for such luxuries, nor the power to drive it.

I'd be worried when your third mate rings up....

"Hello..  can you make me a TARDIS please"???

The Enterprise WAS real.........got the workshop manual for it:

(I once "read" a magazine which featured Lt. Uhura in it before she was famous......let's just say it was mainly pictures!   :Blushing  )

The thing just oozes history. Been sat down below decks with few beers staring up at the rivetted construction.

Something bigger on the inside? I'll see the missus for that!

Don't modern sliding doors use a small motor and a toothed belt, one door connected to the top part and one to the bottom part so they work in opposite directions.
Yes indeed, seen this type on commercial entrance doors. The belt offers like a damped ramp up effect as the stretch gets taken up plus they're quiet. I have considered doing something similar for my boys bedroom - was toying with using a length of studding........too slow, too noisy?

Had to smile at this  :)         Does it show how to change the cambelt?
No, but worth a look if you're into warp and matter stream theory.
