Can anyone help me? We have a storage heater that is only a few years old and the switch keeps going wrong on the wall, like it burns out and then goes stiff and won't work. We have replaced the switch several times and today it has gone again. What are we doing wrong? Could the heater be faulty? It is a heater with a convector heater built in....

Is it just a switch or a switch with a fuse?

Some makes of switch are just rubbish, and won't work reliable at a 13A load.

What type and make of switch?

as above, cheap switches burn out often. if this switch is a fused spur, then chances are its not rated to the load which will burn out any equivalent switch

Should there not be two switches there ....one for the Off Peak  (E7)   and one for the 24hr supply to the convector . ?

I assume there are two , which one is burning out ?

As the other guys have said , cheapo switches don't last when used on heaters such as these.

Can you take a photo and post it on the Forum?   Perhaps one of the Admins could allow you to post one .
