Swapping an MCB on a Hager Consumer Unit

I would think it wise to get the circuit checked over by a competent person with suitable test gear before replacing any MCB's...

As it is possible that the cable could have suffered some deterioration with repeated overload faults and the MCB is still actually working correctly..
(i.e. a 40amp MCB does not actually trip immediately the current reaches 41amps, so the cable could have been subject to multiple higher current events) .

I have seen fault symptoms on shower circuits where the cable has got a bit too warm due to loose connections and some of the insulation has softened allowing a temporary short between a L-N or L-E..

Especially at the terminations of pull-cord switches inside the square pattress back-boxes of the cheapo' poor quality shower isolator switches.. e.g.
