Ok you guys I am well aware of the principles of, true earth and local earth but my training did not cover this in great detail - so"I think therefore I bond!"

Is there a link or site which will give me a more in depth understanding of this and how it affects PME and TT supplies?

or perhaps I should start a new thread about exporting PME
That is indeed another very good question ...

PME installation

with Oil boiler supplied from metal tank external from building......

Metal external tank introduce Earth potential..

Thus bond at boiler?

But NOW exporting earth via oil pipe!

?????? ; \ :) :) :) :)

even more reason for DNO to use TNS instead of TNCS

Just to throw another pebble in the pool related to this topic....

If you have got an oil feed pipe that does need bonding..

e.g. 10mm copper pipe .....

what size or type of bonding clamp do you use?

i.e. a BS951 is typically for 15mm - 22mm pipes,

but not really meant for smaller gauge!? ?:| ? :|

never really though about that, but i have fitted a standard 951 clamp to a 10mm pipe many times with no obvious problems
