Went to complete kitchen install for local company

Connecting appliances, oven, hob under cabinet lighting nothing exciting

Kitchen is in newly built extension which has been completed for about a month, wiring done by builders own spark.

No paperwork has been given no answer on builders phone no name for spark.

Quick look before I began, main earth 6mm, tails 16mm, split load cu, loop ok, no rcd trip, so removes cover and finds this

Not the best install but then notices this

Quite apart from the busbar "problem"

I notice it's what we would loosely call a 16th edition split load board with only one half RCD protected.

So it must have been installed to 17th eddition as it's only 1 month old, so are you SURE the circuits on the non RCD side really don't need RCD protection?

Is that a link in the neutral bar as well as one bus bar?
it does look like a bit of 2.5 linking the 2 beutral bars together
You're right, it is a link in the neutral bars

The busbar is continuous from main switch output to output of rcd

Rcd neutral output is straight to main neutral bar

There is a live from the main switch output to the input if the rcd( as norm)

Mcbs from sw left to right are

1) house sockets(original)2.5 16A

2) empty

3) lighting (original)1.0 6A

4) new lighting in extension 1.0 6A

(8 lights 2 way switching, 4 new sw drops, should be rcd protected)

5) new lighting for garage lights/ outside lighting/garage door & alarm 1.0 6A( garage in conduit, outside lights clipped direct round garage, alarm point chased internally to spur)

8) kitchen radial (original) 2.5 32A

9) house ring/extension part new 2.5 32A

10) house radial (original) 2.5 32A

11) garage/extension radial (new) 2.5 32A (plastered req rcd)

12) shower(original)6mm 40A

(reqs rcd)

Part p working a treat

So has this extension been signed off as complete by building control?

No I thought not.

Have you contacted the builder and asked for his EIC for the work yet? :slap

The customer has been chasing the builder for paperwork for themselves and the inspector to sign off but there is a number of faults around to be corrected but the builder has not replied to their call messages letters

I advised customer to get spark back because why should they pay me to repair the mess when technically they have already paid him

I'm well aware I'm only hearing there side of the story:rolleyes:
