I hate to lose tools , start becoming obsessed as to where the missing thing is and how can it NOT be in my tray .

Also have pliers & pointy pliers that I've had forever.

I wrote  to three major tool manufactures on breaking their smaller size (+) (-)    MCB  drivers ,  Bahco , CK & Wera  .  I bought the smaller one for the earth & neut bars but sheared them all off .     They were tested for tempering , hardening etc and the esult was that electricain's wrists were probably too strong for the product.

Or they are made of cheese?

Not a problem with older cu's?

I have had the same problem with my weras and end up using a flat head.

My wiha drivers seem better at this but the the tip falls out all the f***** time into the abyss of detritus.

Agree 100%

the Wiha blades are really good.....the locking mechanism is total and utter s***e.

i have mentioned this a few times to the very pleasant Lady Boss of the UK division.this has resulted in replacement units...which then fail again

Like a lot of older tradesmen I must confess to having a "fetish" for tools,I'm semi retired now but that doesn't stop me buying stuff,in my shed I have 2 of those large snap on type tool cabs that are full, these lived at work alongside my bench, plus lots of other gear in various boxes and cases.I'm loathe to take stuff from these and leave them in my car in case they get lost.Recently I bought a nice socket and spanner set from Screwfix just to leave in my car, they are normally £89 but they were on offer for £45 so I snapped one up,they are good enough for general use and very comprehensive, sockets come in 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 inch drive and range from 4mm to 32 mm,spanners from 8mm to 19 mm.A mate of mine bought one about 2 years ago and he's an animal,it amazes me just how much abuse he gives tools and it survived him,so for a sensible user it should last many years.

Yes I have a fair bit of Halfords stuff, you just need to buy it at the right time, just before Christmas they had a large set of ratchet ringspanners reduced from £90 to £50,so I had a set of those too,the set from Screwfix was a bargain when they were on offer.I do a lot of mechanical stuff these days,I maintain my own car and then for some reason ended up looking after my old chap's car and my 2 sister's cars,so I have a small fleet to look after, lol. There's always something to do and having the right tools makes the job so much easier, the old chap's car went for it's test this morning and sailed through, there's 2 new disc's to fit to mine as soon as the weather dries up,then in March it's time for a service on one of my sister's car's then in May there's another mot due.

don't remind me, i need 4 disks and 4 pads been quoted 300-400.

forget that i can buy the tools to do it myself for £100 so i might as well give it a go

usually fairly easy. but you might need a wind back tool for the rear pistons
it doesnt seem too bad to be honest, a windback tool and a longer 1/2 ratchet is all ill need to buy the other bits are nice to have e.g. axle stands.

windback tools can be a problem as there are 2 types, left and right hand thread, best thing is to get both from machine mart, they're only about £12 each,I use Euro Car Parts for my car bits, the discs for my Piccasso were only £27 a pair. They are a decent outfit they sell OEM stuff and a budjet range too, pity you're not closer to me or I'd pop over with my gear and swap them out for you.Axle stands are really an essential, especially for anything that involves going under the vehicle, but if you ever get stuck providing you are NOT going under it then place the wheel under the side of the car,at least that way if the jack slips the hub doesn't slam into the floor and do expensive damage,Trolley jack is another must these days, the jack's supplied with modern cars are not fit to change a wheel with let alone anything else if you ask me.

ill be honest i always throw a wheel under but i know what your saying, axle stands are the on list of things to buy and thanks for that i was planning on using eurocar parts (i had to take the wheels off as there are quite a few differnet sized caliper's fitted to that year and i didnt want to have to buy calipers as well.

ive got 260mm (15mm max for caliper) solid disks on the back and 288mm (25mm max thickness) vented on the front

Yes best place for that thing in the picture is the skip, lol the number of them that I've seen tip over or slip isn't worth thinking about,I slung mine and keep a trolley jack in the boot.Usually at Euro if you give them the vehicle reg they'll tell you the parts you need, anyway I've posted you a link in case you don't have it,you can enter your reg and get an idea yourself.best of luck and if you need to know anything just ask.

For axle stands I have often used a concrete breeze block and a bit of offcut railway sleeper on top of it, bomb proof, alas not CE marked :)    sometimes my axle stands are just not handy.  I did in fact "lose" them for a couple of years until I found them hiding in the back of my workshop.
