anyone come across these before?

they have a square pin profile as opposed to normal MC4 with a flat sided round profile.

they are fitted on CONENERGY panels, well some models of them at least, I have spoke to our supplier and told him how can they be MC4 if they dont plug into other MC4 connectors,

he reckons they still meet the standard, just they have a unique profile, WTF.????

why have a standard if some manufacturers are going to make their own fitting to the standard that doesnt fit anyone elses standard fitting?

S`funny - I had an issue yesterday with some plugs supplied with an inverter (can`t remember which one! - may have been "solar edge")

You dont crimp `em - they have a compression type cage clamp, which is held in place by the outer body of the plug.

They won`t fit "standard" MC4 panel plugs/sockets - they ONLY fit the sockets on the inverter.

Today made me happy - Diehl have sent us a transformerless variant of the 3800s we regularly fit - its still a beast of a thing to put on the wall, but not as bad as the galvanics :)

AH,

SMA, sunnyboy supply their inverters with a crimpless type of MC4, but its still a standard MC4 connection,

Im just puzzled as to how we are supposed to have a standardised fitting that is now being modified by all and sundry to keep their product unique......

bloody pi55es me of petty stuff like this.

how many patch leads do I need?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Tyco mc4 also fitted on zen panels. Had to import the tyco ends from the USA !!! Although be careful one of our engineers had an attempt at crimping these with the wrong crimping tool. Result arcing on connection with panel and one melted connection.. Platinum inverters are good granted a little heavy to launch into loft.. Anyone fitted power one aurora 3800!! Fitted one this week. Couldn't believe size and weight, so light. Didn't like the LCD display though, it's terrible..

Power one aurora.. pvi 3.6 .. Not 3800 .. Sorry..

Rs components had tyco mc4 now that I think about it ,although as I remember they where always out of stock. That was a while back though.

Power one aurora.. pvi 3.6 .. Not 3800 .. Sorry..

Fitted one of these last week, as you say super light, almost threw it into the attic.

Iv found that there are a lot of mc4s which are not compatible with each other as well, we just adapt the end panels of each string with our mc4s and were away to go
