Manufactures instructions will give the power rating and recommended supply connection..
Some can be just a 13a FCU of a ring circuit..
(no worse than a 3kw electric fire plugged in)...
Others are bigger!!!!
There will normally be a timer/thermostat/manual override controller type unit..
some just use the Ambient room temperature to control the on - off of the element.. other also use an under floor sensor..
If you have got to fit the control box you need to know where the "two wire ends" of the heating element are going to appear.
Personally If it were me.. I would say to the customer..
1hrs labour to come and do pre-tile laying checks..
(after heating element has been laid out on floor)
To visual & continuity resistance etc...
Then first thing to do once tiles laid is to check again element resistance..
any discrepancies, (damaged element due to tiler) walk away until tiler re-laid a new heating mat & tiles!!!
obviously remainder of job will be dependent upon actual site circumstances..
but remember to allow time for element to heat up if you want to test its is working while you are still at site!
