First post so hopefully it'll go alright!

I've got my trade test coming up, FICA or i believe in England it's known as the AM2 and i believe they're identical..

I'm fairly confident in my ability both with the practical installation and the theory section, however due to the way my apprenticeship has gone I've never done a lick of inspection or testing other than in college which is minimal so i was wondering if anyone would be able to talk me through the correct testing procedure and the correct order for the tests to be completed?

The problem with my company is there are only a few lads who run about testing all the jobs usually so it'd be very rare to have a chance to work directly with someone that's testing an installation!

Cheers!

Grab Brian Scadden's "Inspection, Testing & Certifiocation" book. He is (was?) a sponsor on here. Brilliant read IMHO, what you need to know without masses of padding.

ISBN on mine is 978-0-08-0966 10-6, although to 7671:2008 there may be a more up to date print...........

A little tip..........do the dead testing FIRST!  :coat

Go with Onoff's advice , get the book and read it up stage by stage .  Its unfortunate that you don't get  testing experience . I would say your employer has let you down on that count.

However nothing changes over the years ..... there were plenty of apprentices who found themselves at the end of their training but had never covered all aspects of the trade .

I would add ...get hold of an Electrical Installation Certificate if you don't already have any, go through testing a circuit column by column . They're all the same format now  ( unless Scotland have to be different) .

Do you have a test instrument or access to one?        Get some practice with it...you'll need it .
