Presumably you have the serial number of your Megger recorded somewhere? You can give that to the Police. Also, someone told me that Megger have a serial number database that shows if a machine is genuine or reported stolen. Haven't investigated that myself, but perhaps you could look into it and add your s/n to the database if it's true.

Also you could look out for your model of machine on eBay over the next few weeks. If you see any, send the seller a question asking for the serial number. PM me with your model and s/n and I'll be happy to help (helps sellers avoid suspicion if q's like this come from different usernames and different locations).

Similarly for the serial numbers on your cert pads.

Spread the word amongst local sparks firms too to look out for anyone selling part used pads with your s/ns on.

I know it's no help to you now but I'm the same as innit4$ when I get home the tools get put straight in garage. The garage has 3 locks with another door inside which is 5 lever deadlocked. Plus I sleep with my tester. Can't be too careful as if they want it they'll have it. Hope you get your tools back mate but wouldn't hold out much hope with the old bill. They're useless. Got more chance looking for the stuff yourself... Drive round the local pikey sites, as that's where they are most probably. Is your van signwritten by any chance?

the problem with the police is they are to rapped up with their little speed cameras sat in nice comfy vehicles, witha cup of :coffee and a bag of opcorn :^O watching for people going over the max speed limit after a few miles per hour, :red card :red card:red card if they were to get out like the old heartbeat coppers many more cri inals would be caught thieves, druggies, and so on, i vote leave the bloody motorist the easy targets alone and let the majority of law abiding motorists/citizens to live their lives in piece!

Sorry to hear this Switch. I live in a sleepy village outside of Stroud but work all over Glos. I will keep my ears to the ground for you. Makes me think about CCTV now. I live in a very quiet are and it is easy to fall into the trap of feeling that you are immune to instances like this. Incidentally, would a camera trained on a garage have a range of say - up to 30 metres?

cheers for all the comments, definately have to make sure im more prepared from now on. exspensive tools removed from van etc. and cameras up . re ordered most of tools stolen , cost a fortune, and the worst part isnt the fact they have stolen my stuff and damaged van, its the fact its put my head all over the place before my NICEIC assessment. just gotta try and switch of from it all.

With CCTV cameras I understood that if there are no signs displayed , the footage is not admissible in court.
