From a job today, I was there to move a couple of sockets & light switch on the landing & a socket & light switch in a bedroom, so some studwork could be relocated to split one bedroom into two & so a new door can be fitted.

Found these while doing the work....

This is a spur off the ringmain, found the cable route went diagonal then up into the loft, to supply one socket then on to a fused spur that was unused & onto a second fuse spur in the bathroom labelled as "hoist".

As you can see the sparks pinched the cable when fitting, hence the sooting, the tape covers the damaged cable both line & neutral.

Same property & the down lighters were fitted through out the property by a company who undertook the bathroom fitting/refurb after last occupier went into a hospice. not a good photo (why no light on BB camera :C ) but the DL is right alongside the joist & yes the joist is showing signs of heating & nice use of the pendant terminals .
