In the office again.
I`ve just done a survey............and one of the questions asked about your highest qualification achieved.

They had the following options:

1. O - Level / GCSE / CSE

2. Vocational Qualification

3. A - Level

4. Degree

5. Masters degree

6. I don`t have ANY formal quals.

now - they also had the NVQ levels 1-4 on there:

I will say that there was more than one NVQ level on the same line.......

Anyone fancy a guess??

We have been here before, IIRC, however I disagree, not with the posts here, but the grading & have made my thoughts known to the "powers that be", gresult, NOTHING!

I'll just keep my nvq5 though!

]:)

Does that mean if I take an NVQ 6 in tiling then I can have letters after my name? T.W.#.T.

I find the whole NVQ system a shambles it is a government joke scheme to quash the skills shortage argument.

Scrap the lot and have minimum time of 3 years under pinning knowledge and not a 3 job portfolio of pictures of someone putting a light up

Snake hips: Yes, we`ve been here before - but this was the first time I had seen it written out as a comparable qualification.......( `scuse me while I choke on Mr. Artois` best product)

Wicksy: Oh yes....but then WE all know the REAL meaning of "NVQ"........

Not a

Valid

Qualification :slap

When you can have someone else`s work signed off as your "thesis" - then it is as much good as a chocolate fireguard, in my humble opinion.......

Not to mention; with the plethora of "guaranteed pass" courses - whatever the "certificate" at the end is called, it is effectively worthless, as anyone with the correct amount of dosh to throw away can have one too.

FYI: I have an "Uber A* doctorate in breathing air"( that`s what it`s called - honest) from the university of Hullaballoo...........but I don`t think it`s worth much - everyone who failed the course is toast (or at least "brown bread") :slap

We all know the general feeling about some of the city and guild quals, especially the 5ww wonder stuff such as 2330 but now NVQ is gettting shredded, are there any quals that are actually respected, maybe 2391 i&t or is an apprenticeship finished in 80's and over 20yrs experience the only one that gets a nod of approval?

I have a higher gnvq and a nvq level three, kind of proud about both of them, and one just aLlowed me to apply for another jib card with exemption to h and s exam. Thumbs up!

I have no idea what is equivalent these days but i did once wear a black gown with red hood lining and blue trim.

I think you may want to check some details. the 2330 is the full blown thing, one that people spend 3 years at college to get, not one that is offered on the 5ww options

I did an NVQ level 2 also city&guilds 2351 level 3 everyday for 12 months in collage and also had to attend the following year to complete 2351. The city&guilds 2330 I did 1 day a week from sept last year to June this year. We don't set the standards within these qualifications or say if it's going to be NVQ or city&guilds it's the industry that sets these to what companies desire and the material within it I suppose.
