Guys,

What is the name given to the maps that show an aerial / birds eye view of Streets, Roads and buildings? The same ones that you get from utility companies when you have to check where their services run.

Attached is an example of the said map.

I did think that and have checked that - But they don't quite show as much detail as the maps used by Utility companies. :_|

Looked at one from the official Ordnance Survey Website - and it didn't even show the "Church" which has been there, since gawd knows when. :(

Anyway, for me to be able to print of a map of that sort, it will cost

Ah In that case I think the utilities and local council must have their own versions.

Builders often request them before digging , BT have their own I think , DNO ,s definitely have them .

I have viewed city street plans dating way back in Birmingham Central Library so I guess you would have the same facility. Can't take them away though.

Yes that's a detailed Ordnance survey map.

they are also used by solicitors for conveyancing.

I seem to recall in the distant past, it was possible to go to your local town hall and request a map covering the area you wanted and they would print it for you. I don't recall the fee, and whether it was more or less than your

how big do you need it?couldnt you just view it and screenshot?
I can see a sample mate, but it won't cover the area that I require. :(

try looking on planing applications website for the area concerned. there is often a detailed map, with marks for properties with planning applications etc

+1

You might need to photoshop out any stamping or red pen drawn on the map.

What do you need this map for admin?

My Eldest Son wants it for his Geography Course work, Dave.

He needs to show plans of Open Public Space before and after a superstore has been built, along with a petrol filling station, a car park and two access roads.

The amount of asked for is amazing. :_| Poor mite, I would rather him than me. :(

He also has to look for peoples opinion that use the area. Find out the views of the local shops owners and other businesses, take photos and find out the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Social Impacts, Economic Impacts A & D, Enviromental Impacts A & D and a whole lot more.

is this building being built, or just if it was?

if its recently built, then google streetview & satellite images may show how it was before. some new pics to show along side older streetview would be fairly easy. if there are any high buildings near then you may be able to get aerial comparison aswell

No Andy - It is purely ficticious for the benefit of his course work.

I was looking at that earlier Dave, as well as google.

Thanks for your help, that one is the nearest that he'll get to it.

He can manually add the house numbers etc.

He has to manually draw it, (trace in this case) and again to show his plans of the supermarket, petrol station, car park and two access roads etc.

Thanks for your help, Dave.
