Gotcha

yeah Ill be upgrading the lot.

Regarding the peb ...from looking in the OSG it looks to me that that is ok to connect straight to the met as oppesed to the cu earthing block is that right???

While im at it

I was testing for continuity today between cu earth block and the disconnected main earthing conductor (which came from the dco to met)and it was saying there was continuiity??

does that sound right to you????

or have i made meself as clear as mud!!!

Thanks for that.

whats best practice then.

I expect to make sure everything is ok your end and just ignore next doors possible "interference"?!?!?!?

be warned if you touch the VIR cable - the insulation is liable to fall off very easily. and if you move the conductor for anything, the insulation may just fall off looking at it. literally.

yeah ill keep an eye on that.

Id never seen the stuff before.

I assumed it was so old it wouldnt still be used but of course on closer inspection discovered it was very much in use.

Can someone tell me what this is exactly ??Im sure it is the old distributers cut out.

is it right that it is still live ?

i put a volt stick up to it and it lit up.

should it still be here.....?????

Sorry its a bit late during the responces , but the old service head are the holes for the outgoing cables blanked off ? or is it possible to just stick your finger in and get a shock ?? or has the fuse been removed ?. I dont see anyone else has mentioned it .

Holes are blanked off.

Dont think theres a fuse though.

ill have a closer look tomorrow

Your main earth is going to be 16mm, you can run this direct to the CU or through an Earth BlockYou can connect your PEBs to the MET or earth bar in the CU... which evers more convenient!
Erm really? All PEB's should go back to MET no matter where it's a seperate block or the one integrated in the CU. The MET is the one where the DNO's provided Earth or Rod connects to.

Hiya,

Can any one tell me what cut out fuse will be in this carrier? BS 88, BS1361?? I didn't want to break the seals and pull it to find out.......wouldn't want the DNO after me...... it says 60amps on the front but 100A on the side??? And it say's BILL on it.....any idea?????? cheers :D
