stuck between a firm pair of t***
evening chaps,

customer turns up to the house today with the bathroom plans, she said..

"there are 2 sinks on that wall, i want lights both sides, there is a walk through shower going here so will want spots and the bath is going center of the room and i want a chanderlier above it"

"what, ummmm i dont think that should ummmm"

"why cant you do that? i'm not going to throw water at it"

"i'm sure your not but there is a lot of moisture in a bath room"

"but it would look nice"

"yes it would, as long as it triped out when its supposed to"

anyway, i have googled and found a few fittings, just wonderd if any of you have done one that you could reccomend?

thanks

The fitting above the bath will need to be suitable for that zone. That is the criteria to work to. If the daft cow is'nt happy, do all the wiring etc, but don't fit the chandelier. Make sure your cert states that light fitting is to be fitted by customer/ others.

Some people, especially those with a few bob, seem to think they can brush aside electrical/gas/building regs to suit themselves . Don't lose the job, but don't drop yourself in the brown stuff.

thought they had to be low voltage or out of zonal reach andalso on an rcbo

I've done jobs where the customer has wanted daft stuff in zoned areas or other special locations. Make it SELV and then stick suitably rated lamps in it.

Got a call yesterday form customer 'Need a 2foot flourescent replaced in the bathroom'.

Picked one up on the way home ready to fit--10min job!

Bathroom is <2m high and the fitting (one of three) is in zone one above the bath. Its rusted to hell and tripping existing ELCB!!

Refused to fit it but have got job to replace old Wylex and ELCB next week.

Does anyone know of any IP4 flourescent fittings 600mm long or something similar which I could use?

Get a 2ft vapour proof not very pretty but should comply. Personally I use ip rated 2d bulkheads in bathrooms white ones with opal diffusers don't look to bad.

Patch keeps writing quicker than I can.
