Hi my next door neighbour has run a SWA cable through a wall onto my land the cable is not installed to the regs. It has four pipe cilps on it over around 12 feet before it drops to the ground and runs the rest of the way on the surface till it goes trough the fence.

Who do I report this unsafe cable to tried building control but they say they cannot help me.

That's about it really. Building control should be interested if he has contravened building regulations, which it sounds like he has. What a complete waste of space they are.

Tell them the cable is supplying a new structure that you think he is renting out as a dwelling, they'll take notice then and soon be round.

Tell him his cable is trespassing on your land, and if he does not remove it within 14 days, you will get an electrician to remove it and send the bill for doing do to him.

(please don't just go and cut it though)

The objective is to get him to remove it rather than you having to do so.

Rather than any of the above suggestions, have you spoke or written directly to the neighbour ?   Always best to talk this through before threats of legal action, removal etc.

You seem to be more worried about the way its secured than the fact its there ?

if its on your land, speak to them and tell him to move it, or it might be involved in an unfortunate accident with a lawnmower, hedge trimmer, blow torch, large spike hammered through it, somehow wrapped around your towbar as you moved away or something else destructive you can think of

perhaps Albert999 should phone the Fire Brigade? I guess he knows the number.

It might be that permission was given but Albert is unhappy with it not being buried?
