There is a tested sticker on the socket, so it must be ok

might have been a 5DW who tested it... 'well i put the probes on and pressed test, but i have no idea what the readings actually mean, so assumed it was good so put a 'tested' sticker on'

Good point.  "Tested" means nothing. I could have a pile or rust "MOT Tested" but it might not pass.

I take it that socket polished up okay and you put it back BD?

Now where's that fuse wire equivalent table?

Sadly Dave it was a bit too melty to go back, the switches didn't work, it was a craptree n all.

All craptrees have a tested sticker on back.

I rekon the 'fuse' was good for close to 40a
