:_| Thats it for me folks, as of today I will no longer be trading. :_| ... bills are stacking up & the only way that I can get out of the quagmire is to go bankrupt. :_|
You are not alone....

Sorry to read this thread , ABC, I hope something turns up for you. I'm sure you know what you are doing , but can I say that you must look into the bankruptcy side of it very carefully as it can have far reaching effects. Your credit cards will be withdrawn, you wont get credit anywhere, such as BT , British Gas, Electric will be have to be on card meter, no hire purchase etc. If you are a sole trader , might want to put the house in Mrs. ABC,s name. I think it lasts for 5 years too, well it did for a mate of mine about 15 years ago. Just saying take some expert advice first, best of luck. :| :(

Well Deke, I'll correct you:

It lasts for 12 months.

(Gas/Electric does not have to be on a prepayment meter, nor will you automatically loose your home)

Bad news m8! really really sorry to hear this:( :|

wish you all the best getting some other work sorted:x

Only positive thing I can think of saying at the moment is...

YOU HAVE GOT QUALIFICATIONS WOT CANNOT BE TAKEN FROM YOU!Applaud Smiley:D

when things do start to pick up again, if you wanted to, I am sure you could re-use you qualifications and experience to start earning money again.

In the mean time...

Priority 1. LOOK AFTER AND BUILD UP THE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE...

(partners, family close friends). :x

Priority 2. Do NOT bottle things up and get stressed out! speak to someone you trust:) ;) {family OR friend}

Priority 3. Try and sort out work to earn a bit of cash and keep yourself in the workforce.

All I can do is sink a beer in commiseration friend. :x :x:)

Although it only lasts for 12 months it follows you around for many years to come... be carefull and avoid if possible

abc you really need to think deeply about bankruptcy as like has been said although it relieves you of the debts you have to pay back, you wont get credit for many years. it has god pros and cons like everything, just think very carefully before been to hasty

Badger are you sure of that. A company that did the bankcrupcy thing to me owing quite a few hundred pounds is now back in business and doing very nicely and I have never seen a penny of my money.

Must be trading under a different name Batty. IE: His Wife.

He cannot even sit on a board of directors, if has been declared bankrupt.

It p..sses you off though that these people can do what they do although sometimes it may not be there fault many a good firm has gone under due to other firms going bankcrupt and also credit crunches.

Bankruptcy is not a crime, for the genuine people concerned.

(Ltd companies to one side)

The economy has collapsed in a big way, there are many on hard times after being made redundant or feeling the effect of the decline of the Constuction industry, for example.

It no longer carries the stigma it once did, and for the majority it is all over in 12 months or less.

As for many on here mentioning credit (being denied, as a result of), once discharged the only way is forward and it won't be too long before the Status Quo (credit rating) is restored to a viable number.

Although I suspect many (after bankruptcy) will treat credit/loans etc with a high degree of caution.

You can still go about your business, but in your own name (like many self employed do).

With overwhelming debts and no viable means to pay, bankruptcy should not be frowned upon.

Can I ask if any members have an issue with this subject in general they open the topic up, in a separate thread in this forum.
