Been asked by my dentist to install a socket outlet with double pole isolation switch outside of the xray room for the new machine he is having.

The only literature he had, only told you about the functions and not any install details. I have checked the website and that is no help either as technical info only available to official dealers.

Anyone got any past experience?

If not I will try contacting his dealer, I'm scared enough of going to the dentist so do not want to upset him.

If he has ordered the machine, some installation details will almost certainly be provided.

As far as I'm aware these machines are relatively low power.

Don

only thing I can think of is do they require a very VERY good earth.?

Ive done a few laser cutters(I know they're different)

and they required an earth of less than 0.05ohm,.!!!

Thanks all for the replies.

Unfortunately no install details left with the dentist just verbal instructions passed on from xray installing technician to dentist then me.

However, Its no major problem as I have got time to make enquiries.

Aww gawd, Chinese whispers - you'll be fitting a plug on their microwave at that rate.

:D

Is it a free standing X-ray Machine? Wall mounted X-ray Machine? (these are the most popular). Is it to be controlled from the Dentists PC? Or By the dentist using a long "wander lead and controller?"

Do you know the make and model number?

I don't know about dentists x ray machines but generally they need a D type breaker which means a very low Z reading is needed. If its a old TNS supply that may be higher than the breakers max ZS !
But a dentists X-ray machine is rather small compared to a Hospital machine..

A search on the net, showed these to be more Voltage driven devices, but I could be wrong..

(I'll get my coat)

:(

HI WW, yeah Its a Planmeca Proline XC machine, if that helps.

Have you had a good day at work?

I had to park 10 mins away from site today as service yard to premises being resurfaced and ****** security guard was gonna fine me

I USED to like you!X( X(

No m8, I didn`t think you could either! Roll is likely to be closer to the truth. I really wish you`d change that avatar m8. Makes me feel ill!

And I haven`t got your pants. They`d no more fit me than they would steppie`s nag.

SL is trying to put you off the scent. He`s had his company name written on `em in black marker, and he`s flying off the scaff. as an advertising banner.

:^O :^O:^O

Got the details confirmed today for installation and xray machine comes with bs1363 plug and standard ring/ radial circuit fine, however socket outlet will require means of isolation from outside the room in case of emergency.(NHS requirement).

6 core alarm cable to be run from x ray equipment position to doorway for the remote controller.

Batten Holder to be fitted above door (outside of room) and red light bulb used when x ray equipment in use.

Cheers everyone for your input.
