I need to replace a 2 gang socket outlet in order to wire in a heated towel rail, has anyone used such a thing as a double face plate with a fused spur flex outlet and a single socket, something similar to a cooker outlet?

You could replace the back box with a dual one.

If there's room on the wall, it may be easier to just sink a single gang box and put the fused spur next to the socket..?

Especially if the existing back box is just a 25mm deep one. As the twin-single back-box will be wider & deeper.

But if its a stud wall then a twin-single dry-line box is an easy option.

There’s already another double socket and a fused spur switch on the wall next to the socket I want to change so I’m liking the idea of just fitting a plug to the towel rail!
