    Wholesaler prices

I'm in Glasgow Badge... I agree with Dong on screwfix, I find them really competitive for some things and you find good deals if your luck is in when you're on. I bought some energy saving lamps for a customer recently (from Srcewfix), pack size wasn't on the website so I actually called to...

Do you know what... if you want to talk about the money lets talk about the money... if you want to talk about the job lets talk about the job. If you do the job, do it properly... you won't find me criticising anyone for making a few quid... but, and it's a very big BUT... do the job properly...

Part P Electricans - valuable or dangerous?

One thing I've found on here (and the fact that some of you have found the place is testament to this) is lots of people wanting to do things the right way. Let's not be fooled, there are plenty of time-served guys out there with plenty of years experience who would be prepared to walk away...

I totally agree that things are difficult just now. I'm ticking over but not setting the heather on fire by any means. I have lost a couple of jobs in the last week for being too expensive and that is fair enough and maybe if a lose a couple more I might drop my estimates a wee bit but it...

Part P Electricans - valuable or dangerous?

If I may just jump in here :-) I think an apprenticeship is about so much more than just the practical application of some of the knowledge you may or may not have learned during whatever college course you have attended. I know this will sound like an old fashioned point of view (I'm in my 30s...

Definately not enough for me... quote for enough time to do the job and you have the time to do it properly. If you ask the punters if they want the certificate a lot of them will say no, so just quote for the time to do it and hand it to them before you leave. What they decide to do with it...

Does Anyone know companies in Glasgow taking on electrician apprentices?

'Fraid I'm not... think you may have phoned me! I can however direct you in the direction of a couple of useful organisations. Govan Initiative... take on apprenticeship seekers but you need to be resident in Govan or have a relative resident in Govan. That is as much detail as I know...

    Another awkward 'how much' scenario

Designer, Installer, Tester, Health and Safety man... and apart from all of that, he will not be shy at coming back to you if something packs in. Put your own value on it but get paid!

    An interview with an electrician

Good advice Apache... I get calls every now and again and one of these days I'll probably take one of them on so definitely worth a go... seems to be quite a lot of depression gap years in there, I'm worried for you!! Think I want to be a vet as well... not sure about all that 'elbow deep'...

You're right... http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=j8Exol1R9nsC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_summary_r&cad=0 The circuit breakers for the mains and generators at one of my previous places of employment (a hospital) used had to be racked out for maintenance... Don't know if it was...

I woulda been more! I know we probably all get a feeling for different customers (I do anyway) but I am sick of people expecting you to turn up in the van and work for nuthin!! I price these kind of jobs (kitchens/garage conversions) at about

missing a strap in 2way lighting

Take the various points but I v. seldom wire feeds to switches, over the course of a year those switch drops add up in metres... The only way you can do it is if the live feed in or out of the downstairs switch is either the live feed in or out of the upstairs switch... ie you have a T&E...

What would Gok Wan or Trinny & Susannah say about your safety gear????

Sorry, bit of a tangent... Used to be a hospital maintenance technician and we had some control gear put in by a company called Bender. Various guys in sweatshirts with 'Bender' emblazoned across the front. Smart ass boss turns up in his 'Bender' jacket with his 'Bender' laptop case... I...
