Don't want to bore you with details of why, but a customer needs to automate the starting of a generator in a remote location. Switching ignition and starter is easy enough, but I didn't think about the manual choke!

So, I'm looking for 12Vdc solenoid/actuator with a 50mm stroke, not a lot of force needed, any ideas/suggestions?

Without looking through the RS or Farnell's cataloges  a cheap car central locking actuator could be made to give the correct stroke by altering the pivot point.

wish i thought of that the other year when i made altered mine to electric start. ended up with a metal rod to the front of the case so i can get at it. although it doesnt get started remotely, the start button is right next to it
