Sunday I have a good clear out in our stores/garage , shove stuff like non-RCD consumers and some industrial stuff I've been looking at for four years or more into rubble sacks , plus other stuff, into wife's car ( don't allow vans here) and down to the council tip.

Return to do some gardening mixed with throwing the ball for the mad canine device who has adopted us as "His people" .

About 8 o' clock I sit at the PC ready to see whats afoot on the Forum , pat my pockets to put cellphone in drawer where it lives............ no phone ............. OMG!!!!! where the hell is it , all letterheads have the number, Yellow pages ad, all my contacts................

Search the garage, back of van, garden , walk up to security gates, search car, search house , search garage again , dial number and listen...........sod all .

Only place left......the tip . Spend the night calling myself what lots of others call me and thinking ....... its like have your arm cut off .......no phone ..... all those contact numbers .....how stupid am I ???

Phone Tmobile to get it shut off .............walk about feeling like I've lost my toolbox ............. Down the tipperary at 7.30 bloke in the gate office hands me my phone .....bung him a drink and back to normal again.

How we come to rely on these things Eh!! I never wanted one when they came out , now 96 % of my work comes in on it.

You lucky ******!!,

The wife lost hers about 6 months or so ago,, cancelled it with t-mobile and then got a phone call from her work (school) saying they'd found it,,,, yippee!

What they forgot to tell us was that they found it in about 1000 pieces,,, it'd been driven over:( :( :

when the wifes nephew gets a new phone we run a book on how long he will have it,

blackberry for xmas, didnt see the end of Jan,

before that, 6 weeks,

the longest I think is less than 3 months.

he now has another BB, wonder how long that lasts.

BTW, he is 13(I think)

I bought a new phone a few weeks ago in the T.Mobile shop . The 12 year old serving brought out a variety of Eyeplods , Strawberrys and Xboxes , then looking at my blank face, put them away and handed me a Nokia Classic with the words " Perhaps Sir would be happier with one of these " " Can I make phone calls with it ?" " Yes Sir" "I'll take it"

get an android. when your phone is lost you text "where" to your number from a pc and google maps will show you where it is down to 2m in good coverage.

another great one is if left on silent and can't locate it in house/van i.e its not lost you can text "ring" to it and it will ring at full volume:Salute

why would you not have it all on:C

gps on effects my battery usage by about 1%

and it will atleast give the last position before it died

I know that if your phone is switched on , its position can be located, but does anyone know how accurate they can get. I imagined it was just within the cell you were in.

I remember when the two young girls were missing in Soham , the police kept asking for the (possible kidnapper) to phone them with the girl's phone . Unfortunately it was too late .

not really, apple owners can ring Mr Jobs and he can tell them everywhere their phone has been, and they cant turn that app off. :)
I guess you are referring to the location data stored on the device to aid in positioning without using the gps? I think you need to go read up on that then because Google were next to apple in front of a US Senate panel on the matter and in fact apple handles it better than google and its encrypted in backups from IOS 4.3.3.
