Hey guys, we have just recieved this PIR to have a read over to see if all was ok from a friend!

they are in process of puchasing a house, and wanted a PIR done, we offered to do it at mates rates of

yeh exactly that was the 1st thing i wanted to do aswell, BANG HEAD ON BRICK WALL!!! seems to me this contractor needs a copy of our DVD 'Switched on to the 17th Edt' lol

gets me the fact he cant even spell the most simple of words, Very unprofessional IMHO

I can fully understand your opinions, in my view, this would not constitute a valid assessment of the condition of the installation, however if the limitations to testing have been agreed, this would be a fair report based on those limitations.

the client was led under the assumptions that they where going to recieve a full pre purchase periodic inspection, the client is a friends daughter whom is in the process of purchasing a house, and does not quite understand what a periodic inspection involves, she feels that the contractor is basically trying to swizz her! Especially on the costings of the remedials,

going to send a copy of the report to the NIC EIC and ask their opinions on whether they beleive this to be a Full Periodic Inspection!

i would love to know how long he was at the property for... i guess a matter of 5 min tops....
probs just enough time to tie his horse up and take his boots off!

Did anybody notice he hasnt put install main bonds on his remedials list!!!

Don't shoot me down here everybody but this is the way things work when buying a new house, people get PIR done, very cheap in this case and with no testing. PIR shows faults and gives a cost for repair. Potential buyer then gets cost of remedial work knocked off house price. I think it is a bit out of order to slate the sparky who did it as I see there is no scaremongering code ones and twos and he has quoted for remedials, we do not know the extent of work required without seeing it. As for judging someone on poor spelling that is a bit out of order as it doesn't mean he is incompetent. I know its not the way things should work but this is what happens in practice, survey on drains probably showed up

hahah yeh i had noticed that!!! makes me seriously question him!!! or perhaps he is being a kind soul (a**hole) and doing it FOC

I'm sorry to say, but the contractor has covered his butt in the limitations

and while he may have used the wrong forms he will have done nothing wrong in the NICEICs eyes,,, they are not interested in contractual disputes at all.

Also, and I'm not being funny here, but what did they expect for

Our argument here graham is that he is portraying this abolishment as being a Periodic Inspection Report. when in laments terms it is in fact a Visual Inspection Report! IMO the key elements to a Periodic Inspection includes : Insulation Resistance Testing, Continuity Testing, Earth Fault Loop Impedeance, and Functional Testings. I am judging them on spelling mistakes as the covering letter has clearly been written a PC which has spell checker. Personally i ensure all of my covering letters and certifications are all checked for spelling mistakes as to me it looks highly unprofessional if you can not even be arsed to hit 1 little button before clicking print!
I go back to what was said by Noz he covers his arse in the limitations and for

it wasnt used for leverage on the house price, it was the mortgage company whom flagged it up! also you wouldnt expect a Full NICEIC electrician to be doing/advertising periodic inspections for
