That's the good thing about being taught in imperial and metric you can use what ever is closest on the tape measure.

dunno if I ever mentioned it before, Im sure I have actually,

working on a job near London years ago, cladders were measuring and cutting,

guys on roof were shouting measurements to floor guys to cut pieces, all day long,

next day they started fitting pieces, turns out someone was measuring in inches and someone else was measuring in metric,

my how we laughed.! :slap

Why do 8 x 4 sheets come in metric thicknesses?

anyone remember when kids had respect for their elders?

i know im only 25 but i was bought up to respect my elders be seen n not heard n all that

but iv come to the conclusion that kids nowadays are just miniature gobshites!! just the other day, my neice was on her laptop (9 years old n got a laptop) and she was looking down the screen and looking over the top of her glasses, so i told her to either put the laptop on a table and sit at it correctly or lay down to watch the screen or end up being blind as a bat like me . but instead of doing as she was told i just got a hurl of gobbyness!

if it was me being like that especially round my parents/relatives i would have gotton a smack up the side of my head!

The second bit was in reply to my mention of Skol Bandits...these were a baccy substitute which looked like a tea bag full of sh!te. Idea was that you chewed it...I think it was found to cause mouth cancer [i could well be wrong, see wife for details]

Ok what about equipment. back in the 80's I worked in mining and quarrying. They had motor starters called vapormatics... Rotor resistance starters. Also TASC drives - electromagnetic - used on conveying systems... Just a couple of things that came to mind today.. But yes youngsters... have you tried having a conversation with one lately? no attention given whatsoever, constantly looking at their phones and texting while you talk and then not replying or grunting...
