Beefore I had my boiler replaced, which is in the garage, some cables ran along the wall and then through into the kitchen to where the controller was. The new controller is a Nest, and the electrician inserted the receiver into this run. I am having a new doorway fitted and this run of cable needs attention. It seems self evident to me what I need to do to remove it but still best to check with a better authority.

Coming out of the boiler are two cables, a 3 and a 5 core. The 5 core runs through a fused switch box and on into a blanked back box. Emerging from the blanked back box is a cable to the Nest receiver, and two more - 3 and 5 core - that run along the wall. These cables end, in a back box in the kitchen, and are connected together in what appears to be just a loop back on themselves. In the blanked junction box there is an elablorate series of connectors which seem to me to incorporate the unnecessary loop.

If I remove the unwanted cable run I will be left with a 5 core from the switch, and a five core from the nest receiver, and the cores are all the same colour. Can this really be as simple as joining them up and disposing of the old 5+3?
