Caravan Site. Diversity??

?:|I'm working on a campsite in Devon. A caravan was delivered to site the other day. It has its own consumer unit with an RCD, a lighting cct.a ringmain, an electric shower, an electric boiler and electric cooker. I was told by caravan manufacturer's electrician to supply caravan a with a 20A mcb and a 4.0 mm T+e cable. Cooker and shower circuits are on 32A mcb's and 6.0mm T+e cable's.Please explain please!! :C

Sounds like it needs a bigger supply than 20 amps to me and welcome to the forum.

That is most unusual..

I have never seen an all electric caravan (mobile home??)

I would doubt that the site power outlets could cope with that load!

Have worked on a Mobile home park where two all Electric units have been bgt to site.

Have installed 60 Amp supply on 16mm SWA cable and not had overload problem. The all electric Boiler is just like a Shower, instant heat type, but switches in in stages, Max 7.5 Kw.

I have insisted that the site can not service more then three of these in total (one on each phase)

I think you would have a big problem restricting it to a 20 Amp supply, but maybe thats all the pitch supply point can supply.

Is the cooker a FULLY electric job.....

or is it just an electric oven with gas hob rings?

If just an electric oven I would guess its no more than 3kw MAX

probably more like 2.7k / 2.8k

and thus OK off a 13a fuse?

The caravan sockets 'ring' isn't going to take much juice surely?

It all sounds a bit high to me!

Thanks for welcome. Why would i be told a 4mm when there's 2x 6mm's in caravan?? :C

4mm can carry 32 Amps so I don't think he is allowing for potential load of this type of unit, maybe thinking of usual NON all electric models.
