Hi all,

Can i carry out PIR's without having 2391. I do PIR's everyday for the company that i work for and i am very competent. I have been asked to do a few properties privately for a landlord.

Thanks

As has been said legally you can do it..

but there are some risks you need to evaluate and how they may apply to you..

e.g.

In the event of the brown stuff hitting the fan on an installation that you say is satisfactory but something undetected causes serious injury..

you may need personal PI insurance.... BUT a PI insurance claim, may require you to be able to prove your competence..

There are some industry recognised C&G qualifications that are accepted indications of a persons electrical competence.

Obviously 2191 is one of these C&Gs that may be a safety net as a means to prove your competence for doing PIR's.
