The new cu. Yes its a volex carcase but using the single mod rcbo there is shed loads of space, remember the neutral bar is not used as the rcbo's are double pole.

The neutral is provided to each rcbo by use of a busbar. Line & neutral terminals are off set on the base of the rcbo's.

Yes indeed

Can we have details of where you bought those rcbo's and how much.

Of course I'm sure the Volex CU's instructions say only use Volex mcb's.  So the sticlkers would tell you it doesn not comply with BS7617 as you have not followed manufacturers instructions.

But I think it looks great.

That looks great with the two busbars, very neat design IMHO. These SBS ones are the ones the supplier will "only sell to the trade" aren't they?

I have to ask, assuming they're made in the Far East what's the failure rate like? Any problems more so than the big names? What sets the SBS brand apart from the Chint's etc?

Yes they are from SBS.

The units meet all the BS standards.

They are made abroad in the east I think.

Failure rates are to date none of the cu's with rcbo's & stand alone rcbo's I've installed.

I belive SBS are the sole importers of these units (you'll have to ask David to get that confirmed) probably why EDC never have any in stock.

The price list I have is from spring last year, so I would advise you to call David & get an upto date price.

For the compact rcbo's as above £13.20 inc vat they come in B & C curve, you request the curve you want.

The busbars are £0.60 each

The boards come to you assembled.

As said David will only sell to trade

you pay upfront for the first order then subsiquent orders are usualy on 30 day term account.

Orders @ £50 - £99.99 = 5% discount

Orders @ £100+ = 10% discount

Order on a monday it's in the post Tuesday with you for Wednesday...........having said that David has pulled out the stops for me on a couple of occations when I've put a late order in, so the kit is with me asap.

I have found David to be most happy to answer questions about his products & his company & have a general chitchat about the trade.

I hope the mods dont mind & if I have over stepped the mark please do delete the contact details............and tell him where you got his details as I dont know if he drops in here any more.

Ive been given Daves details last year by a guy i worked with at the last place. Keep meaning to try the compact RCBOs and after seeing that very tidy install i must give them a try.

Just looking at the underside of that install..............do those busbars come like that originally or are they "bent to suit" when he makes the cu up? Whatever, it's SO much neater than normal!

Are those yellow "covers" for the spare busbar fingers available for all makes of cu? As in where gaps are left for future expansion you occasionally see "spare" fingers. Are these in the photos generic ones or specific to SBS?

they are standard with Wylex boards,

dunno if you can buy them seperate though,

I usually have enough spares left over for using on the boards where I dont have enough.

I could find out tomorrow,

but they are quite wide, so Id think yes,

the hole/slot is more or less the full width of the bit you can see.

as I said though, I dont knoiw if you can buy them seperately,

why would you need them on a hager board though, hager blanks cover the fingers anyway.
