get yourself another rod and cut it in half, might be cheaper than buying proper spikes(?) :) with my meter I have the choice of 3 or 4 wire Ra testing.
Ahh, thats a good idea, couple of clamps and 4mm plugs and some flexible singles.

The 3 or 4 wire is basically the same though isn't it ? like a 3 or 4 wire PT100 temp probe (or same theory)

You will just get a better reading from the 4 wire test the longer P1 and C1 are

What meter you got Steps?
I have an 'HT MACROTEST 5035' got a bargain from megger mark

they never seemed to catch on in the UK, but a good meter, and AFAIAA they have been rebranded for someone else in the UK market,

deffo not for a newbie though, not the simpliest (for a 5DW) meter to use or read, but a very very good bit of kit.

the 2 or 3 point test actually uses 3 or 4 leads ,

as I understand it, volts, current and ohms are the 3 variables measured on the 4 lead/3 point test.

does that make sense to anyone else? I know what its meant to say....
