Today i bought myself another Fluke T5-1000 in a kit  T5-H5-1AC KIT/UK   (as mine got stolen by some dirty low life scumbag).  I had some cheques clear and needed it this afternoon so got a kit from Electric Centre for £108  ( wish i had got it from ISSWWW, but could not wait).

My T5-1000 i had before came with some rubber barriers that slid over the test probes. It prevented the probes from being stored in the back of the unit as designed. Im sure it came with some paper work and GS38 claim as why the rubber barriers are needed.

The new one i bought today did not come with these, although the probes like the old set have concave and a small ridge. My Megger MFT probes are like these, so i am guessing it is acceptable. I consider the small barrier enough compared to the illustration on the GS38 document.

Does the new Fluke T5-1000 no longer require the rubbier barriers?   Or did they never really need them?

I think they are fused inside for compliance.

I just tried my spare set of Megger ( MFT 1730) croc clips and it felt a bit too tight (almost breaking point) when i tried them, which is a shame.

I wounder if it was a breif concern fluke had at the time i bought my last T5-1000. Im sure at the time it had reference to the rubber barriers and making it GS38 compliant. I was annoyed as it ment the probes would not clip in the back of the unit. I think its concave and small ridge is a suitable barrier,

I am not GS38 crazy, but i do like to make sure i have everything in order for my NICEIC assessments, which i have due soon.

Just having a look at ISSWW and spotted these which have got the same rubber slip over thingys (suregrip ?)

Never ever seen those before!

Safe isolation?............i get the Voltstick out!......prior to getting the T150 or sometimes the Drummond out and the provong Box. The look on thr AE face is a picture ...they start to get their pen out and then mutterr and put the pen away

Just saying

3 days after i buy mine i get an email to say there is a fluke promotion and i could claim a free gift had i bought it 3 days later.

I think i need to get a refund and buy another one.

the easy way to do that is to buy another one,

then take it back with the receipt for the first one,

that way its still in its unopened packaging,  :D

The T5 does comply as is, the finger guards are sufficient for the job.

Steps as a retailer i can't condone this, we often end up on the s**t end of the stick with people who try this kind of stunt  :red card

I know you were joking but some unscrupulous characters might take you at your word.

By the way got your message and will sort it out for you :Salute

many thanks,

there is no major panic on it,

it was meant a bit tongue in cheek,

I myself have been caught out a few times with promo offers,

but, tbh I bought the item because I wanted/needed it, not the promo item,

that really only sweetens me on something I'd like to have but couldnt justify, or am undecided on or if two manufacturers have 'identical' units

I buy the item, anything else is merely an added bonus.

Jono - Not sure but the fluke looks to only prove 240Vac ?

Take a look at this

http://isswww.co.uk/17th-edition-and-part-p/proving-units/megger-mpu690-proving-unit

Cheaper and proves 50/100/230/400/690
That is the one i did have, until some dirty scumbag helped themsemves to my stuff the thieving C***.

I didnt realise that new one only does 230V,   i was impressed with its size.

I did sumit a request with Fluke for a free camo bag, and sent them a copy of my invoice that was dated a couple days before the promotion.  Today my camo bag arrived, they must have taken pity on me, or didnt notice. :innocent .

Its a nice little case, as i lost my last case and tester to some dirty thieving  scum $%^U*   %^&*(  !@%£@   $%^&  thief.
