I remember my primary school had a climbing frame in the playground with tarmac underneath it.

I don't recall anyone getting injured.

These days it's all bark chippings or a rubber surface.  Poor kids when the cotton wool is removed and they go out into the real world and find out it's a dangerous place,

Well no not really we have ppe we need to go on training courses to climb scaffolding & work in tight spaces. we have safe isolation procedures and we write risk assessments this list could be endless... Nanny state from cradle to grave.

UNTIL they go and do a bit of DIY, then kill themselves because they don't have the life skills to recognise danger when it stared them in the face.
