Hi, I was wondering with my qualifications & experience I could go into domestic & commercial installation? Or do these qualifications show I’m competent enough?

My qualifications:
- 18th edition wiring regs
- Level 3 NVQ engineering maintenance (electrical )
- level 3 BTEC electrical engineering
-HNC in electrical engineering

I will be doing my 2391 ( testing and inspection) soon.

I also have my ECS Gold card in electrical maintenance

Far more qualified than many..

Your biggest issue will be learning how houses are constructed, but that's not particularly hard

Also bear in mind that there are installations in use from the 13th edition .............. numerous (some would say unnecessary) changes over the years so knowledge of previous editions is not only useful but to some extent essential.

Just because its the 18th Ed now doesn't make something from the 15th edition dangerous or due for updating unless you start making changes

Would it beneficial for me to do an experienced worker NVQ and am2?? Would a company who just does electrical Installation not employ me because I don’t have these & have done industrial maintenance work? Also Will I still be able to work for an napit/ niceic company & still carry out work such as a board change or adding new circuits? Or would I myself have to be registered as electrician ??

From my understanding you need to now have a NVQ level 3 in installations or similar. I checked with napit as I’ve got the test and inspection and the NVQ in electrical engineering maintenance (which isn’t accepted.)
