OK, you should NEVER be working on the service head unless it is under the direction & authority of the DNO.

Also no I don't use insulated tools unless it suits me, or if I am working live, and, yes even under the requirements of the relevant statute law, I feel I can justify live working in limited situations, however, connecting domestic tails is NEVER one!

Just curious why Monkey5's thread about isolator Allen Key sizes was locked?

start of related thread merged here

I guessed the same, if we're right someone got hold of the wrong end of the stick (in my opinion).

The whole point of a DNO isolator is so that we mere Electricians can connect to the outgoing terminals safely and legally is it not?

There's a new feature, you can mark a thread as "solved" once your question has been answered, which locks the thread.

It's actually a shame it's locked.  I was going to add to the debate that some makes of henley block have allen head screws, and there's nothing wrong with you connecting those after an isolator. You could argue if it's after an isolator then you don't need an insulated allen key, but that argument could be used to say you don't need any insulated tools as you never work live.

I locked my thread the other day by accident on iPhone and couldn't unlock it :(
I solved the thread as steps gave me the answer I needed, I didn't realose it would lock so nothing else could be written.I couldnt understand where the comments were going about me interfering with things I shouldn't so was a bit relieved it locked. The isolator was fitted so that the seal fairy didn't have to visit, and as PD has said some henleys have hex keys too.

The service head wasn't being messed about with. The earth terminal for pme has hex keys and is assessable to change the earth, ie up rating from 6mm to 16mm. The isolator was fitted by dno so I could connect safely. O take the point that if it dead then insulated isn't needed but most my tools are anyway.

The new feature - MArk Solved - Marks the thread with a Best Answer and automatically locks the thread

This is for the reason the thread has come to its conclusion and has been answered

By locking it this stops in the future old threads being dug up and going off on a tangent years later

The OP can unlock it as can admins and mods
