Hissing Heater

Hi all,

Got a call from a lady saying her storage heater (electric) has recently begun "hissing" when heating up in the early hours! Unless something's crawled in there I can't imagine what could cause an old-fashioned E7 storage heater to make any noise apart from ticking as it heats / cools.

Maybe a cracked-brick?

Anyone any ideas? or should I call the RSPCA?

Sounds like to much vino collapso before bed

No seriously sometimes arcing can sound like hissing

Either arcing from a loose connection or damp & its the bricks drying out.
