Hi my hotpoint washing machine is showing fault code F05. I have checked and cleaned the filter and also the waste hose where i found a button and a coin. I thought this would have done the trick but the next wash is still displaying the F05 fault. Any suggestions in terms of how to test the pump?
Cheers

If you haven't checked it already, there's sometimes a flap in the front with a little basket inside that catches larger things like coins. It can get clogged with fluff. Also worth checking the bottom of the machine, there's a float switch and drip tray that is designed to prevent flooding from faulty seals. Sometimes a small leak can build up and trip the float switch.

Sorry to say, but last time I looked, washing machines do not have a drip tray or float switch, or flood protection. (Dishwashers do)

As the days of washing machines being simple construction easy to fix have long gone they need dedicated people to fix them. To that amends I suggest you look in on the white goods forum who deal with them every day click me

The last one I fixed a sock had got between the drum and the tub and then lodged in the drain pipe to the pump causing it to drain extremely slowly
It's good to have a wet vac handy when you tilt it back, use the door release open the door and vac the water out

With the power isolated, will the pump rotate by hand? As in stick a chopstick down there and see if it spins freely. Last one I did had a stuck hair clip. Previous to that a Pound coin, bra wire etc.

Bra wires are notorious for just that- blocking pumps!
