Bit it's far too logical to expect anybody to investigate the cause of a CU fire and design it out.  Instead we are going to put it in a metal box to contain the fire rather than prevent it. and many of us think that won't make a jot of difference.

Non-combustible. Not metal.

But surely the fire will still spread through the hole in the back of the CU where the cables enter?
The point of the regulation is to contain the fire long enough for people to escape. Most CU in domestic dwelling are located either under stairs, usually wooden to over the front door. Both of these places are vital for safe escape.

 
Show me someone selling a CU that they claim is compliant with amendment 3 that is NOT made of metal please.
It is still quite early. The reg is not even in force yet. The time will come. We should all use the correct terminology regardless how idiotic some members may find it.
