I've just bought me some scaffold on ebay.

I'll be hiring a flat bed truck to come and get it.

But it needs loading onto the truck, and so far there's just me and the seller to load it all by hand.

So if there's anyone on this forum not far from Accrington in Lancashire who would like to earn some money helping us to load it up please get in contact.

Will provisionally be coming down Saturday 2nd November to collect it.

As in  Accrington Stanley ... "Who are they "?

Stepps lives that way does't he ?  ooop  North     He'll send Aggie to help you .

PM sent it will cost you a coffee
WHAT !!!     Maneater , you know its Prodave ,  there'll be 90 tons of scaffolding to load if I know him .

Or you'll have to take it down first , from that 8 story building in Accrington town centre.

You've forgotten the two golden rules from the Army ,  if it doesn't salute you back :Salute , paint it....and ...  NEVER VOLUNTEER!! ;)

Dave, its not exactly next door to me, and I may be working next Saturday probably,

but, when you are definate about the date keep me informed,

Im not promising, but I shall try,

could probably bring my labourer/mate too, but he may well want paying something.

Yes the Kwikstage stuff just just knocks together with wedges.  Think of it like a giant scaffold tower system that you can just keep adding onto as long and as high as you like.

I was told a while ago the stuff was outlawed in England, because you can't scaftag it because any tom dick or harry can come along and alter it, but it's still the normal stuff used in 99% of building work up here. Having said that, 99% of what I see for sale is in England, In fact I've only seen one lot for sale north of the border and I wasn't ready for it then. Hence I'm travelling hundreds of miles to get it.

Yes the new build is now firmly on the horizon. The big step forward being the purchase of the land has completed.  I don't need the scaffold just yet, there's still a lot to do before the real building starts, but it's a case of buy it while I can and keep it until I need it.

I'm really glad I bought my digger early, I've been using it all week (in between working) to clear the site, removing small trees etc, so for the first time we can see the whole site clear and unobstructed. The winter project is finish planing the detail of the house and site layout.

Steps, I'll let you know when the date is confirmed.

There's 3-4 ton of the stuff to load onto a 7.5 to flatbed truck.  I just HOPE it's somewhere close to where I can park the truck.

for anyone interested, it's this lot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kwikstage-scaffolding-/190931074043?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=1YeqcYawOk6C6LnHhgxW0%252B6oRT4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Yes I hope it's dismantled and not still up on the building.
hope they took better care of it than there site

well its not too far from CPC, so Kerching must be close...
CPC is indeed midpoint twixt Kerch Towers and Acci

However I am working all of that weekend as i have a shed load of jobs to clear up before having a weeks holiday.  This will be my first holiday in 7 years!.....its only a week off work, but I need it

Well that was a busy weekend.

I collected the hire truck on Friday afternoon.

I set off from here at 4AM on Saturday and arrived at mid day.

It took us about an hour to load it up, me, Manator, and a couple of friends of the guy selling it.

I then started the journey home. Stopping for some food, and then twice to get a bit of sleep in the cab. I finally got back here at 3AM Sunday morning and went straight to bed.

Up again at 10AM this morning to unload it with some helpers at this end. That took about 2 hours as we were sorting it out and stacking it neatly.

There was some concern that the truck was overloaded (the rear suspension was sitting low) but as we unloaded it, I weight one of each different type of part, then counted up and calculated the total weigh which came in at 3522Kg. I was told the truck could carry 3500 so that's was okay.

The truck drank £136 of diesel on the way down, and £133 on the way back, so no change from no load to full load.

It was a foul journey back, strong winds and lashing rain. At 1AM when I woke from a bit of sleep the truck was covered in snow.

Anyway the forum likes pictures so here they are:

Once again many thanks to Manator for lending a hand, it was really nice to meet you.
