Just a quickie!

Is it a requirement for alarms in an L2 solution to have lithium back up or with alkaline (pp3) suffice?

Cheers.

I don't recall any specific requirement for a particular type of standby power supply....

Providing it can operate the said device during a mains failure for the specified time....

Remember something about 72hours giving audible & visual indication of mains failure

AND then still able operate the full power audible device for 15mins after this duration.

but I don't think it matters if Lithium/Alkaline/Chicken Pooh etc..

I think! :Salute

:coffee

The Grade refers to power supply not the category

Im not aware of any reference to type of battery, though in saying that the manufacturer's may well state which type is to be used

Regards chris

have had a browse through my standards guides and cant find a specific answer, other than what is stated in the first reply you have recieved. i normally use lithium batteries, only because i brought a bulk load from a wholesaler who was closing cheap.

Do you mean LD2 fire alarm systems? An L2 system refers to a BS5839-1 system. An LD2 would commonly use mains interlinkable detectors with a battery backup.
