Hi... Im after help with wording a Lay Off Letter to three of our employees... Does anyone know where I could get some samples from?

Many Thanks..xx

There are numerous sites that provide document templates, however they generally require a payment for full detail to be provided. such as: http://www.simply-docs.co.uk/document.aspx?documentID=1549 you will need to be clear of any legal obligations or rights stemming from the original employment agreement. Places such as Citizens Advice also have many resources you can check with: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/employment/contracts_of_employment.htm I have seen some free sites but some of these are American and not based around UK employment law. I suspect you may need to pay to get accurate advice.

You have not given much info as to how long they have worked for you etc so it best you contact a solicitor

In a similar vein, I've a new apprentice starting with me and I need to give him a contract of employment. Anyone got a suitable one they could let me have a copy in word, or know where I can download one.

I can find loads of advice, but am struggling to find an actual contract.

Give acas a ring, dont know the number off hand (they do have a website, just google them ) but they deal with employment law and arbitration for employers and employees and should point you in the right direction. Sad times for all trades at the moment, dont envy anyone having to tell their employees that their to be laid off, good luck with that.

You can download both requirements from the ACAS website I think.

Also there is a Govt. site which will help with both too, Business Link IIRC.

Would the JIB have something PC ? Or as the other answer ,ACAS . Or the CITB perhaps .... second thoughts ...not them ..they do like a percentage of your turnover if they get wind of your existence ...don't go with CITB !!
