I do not know what cheap crap you fit but I would expect any double socket to handle 2 13A loads without issue. Anything less would constitute a fire risk.
i fit crabtree mostly. but the fact still remains that a double socket only has to be made to take 13A between both outlet, and as such, many cheaper brands (i.e what DIYers fit) will not be able to handle that current as good as other makes

 
Back to this old one again. A double 13 amp socket is designed to take 13 amps not 26 amps. Mk tested there's and said they could take 19 amps for short periods but if you put 26 amps through them they will be seriously damaged.

 
OK. I opened up a crappy cheap one from B&Q and it said its a BS 1363 13A 250V Double pole and thats it. No mention of maximum load for the unit. The 13A is a description not a rating. I suggest you 2 are talking the stuff that Roys dog is eating otherwise they would need protecting accordingly (like the 3+ socket outlets are).
