So,,,, I've just completed a PIR in a commercial building during which I found that there were several pieces of trunking lid missing.

Now as this trunking will be from the 70's, will be imperial and I can't find any lid lying around how do I go about fixing this????

Without replacing all the trunking....

Has the trunking got return edges or is it just a squared off U shape?

If return edge then WF do replacement turnbuckle fixings.

Over the years we have used loads of them.

Just punch a 10mm hole, fit turnbuckle, spring washer. Knock pin through, job done in less than a minute per fixing

If the other type then get some 2" couplers off lighting trunk, fit upside down internally. Drill and rivnut, screw lid on!

Just having done this a fair few times

It does have return edges..... do you have psychic superpowers?????

Who are WF??? having a brain fart ;)

Lol

Also it'll be a right PITA getting to some of the trunking as some plumbit has put a load of water and gas pipes in front of it....

I will also have a flat 90 to get a lid for,,,, some of it is hurried in the wall/ceiling (behind said pipes)

Not yet thanks,,, I'm still in the process of writing the report and then the cost of any repairs will need to be discussed by the organisation and the building owners.... The main problem is that my customers (the tennants) are a charity funded organisation

To secure we use to put a small scrap of wood in trunking to protect cable, drill 5/32" hole through lid and trunking on lip, tap 2ba in trunking, redrill lid 3/16" clearance hole, fit remove scrap of wood, fit 1/2" long 2ba brass screw.

:) All metric so it would probably be drill 3.5mm hole, tap 4mm etc. etc.

Piccie of the trunking might help, trunking I remember from that period had slots for soldiers for trunking lid fixing screws

WF are  or where part of the Rexel group
