I'm guessing most people are aware that MK have decided to stop making and selling fuseboards

I need a 32A type B RCBO and none of my local stockists seem to have any

So WTGrape

We can't fit 3rd party breakers as the BB says we can't

This ain't going to go down well with millions of customers

Thoughts?

yup ... none around here in about 12 stores

Depending on how many you envisage using in the future this might be worth investing in:

6 X RCBOs at about £20, plus the other spares you can rip out... https://www.fastlec.co.uk/mk-sentry-10w-consumer-unit-with-6-rcbos
interesting idea

however, I didn’t think such a company would stop ALL production, at the same time

we poor sparks will be the ones having to tell MANY customers that we can’t replace parts, or upgrade them, so it’ll be whole new boards

astonishing decision imho

Hhhhhm    I was told that Seimens  made the MK  MCBs  etc      .  Although things change rapidly these days .

I have a board change on  because Talisman RCBOs  are few on the ground  and are  between £50  & £70  each .

It mentioned know they were stopping!....luckily I don't use them. But there is an estate here where they are all MK!!

its a bit like Wylex when they stopped making HB and NBs.......if anyone is interested I have quite a lot! Including a brand new box of HB 30

there’s a big estate near me with MEM 2000 boards ....

Its not a perfect plan (as op and kerch show) but it proves its worthwhile sticking to the long time brands, If you needed a breaker for a 20 year old Hager board, you could get it from just about anywhere, if it happened to be clipsal or something, then it might be a struggle!

I was prepared to fit a different make to upgrade a perfectly good , metal, Bill Talisman board to RCBOs  .  Eaton don't fit the bus bar profile .  MEM  & Eaton add on pods  cost a fortune  .  ( this would be  X 12 )  .

Told today that we can have access to the switch room in the appartment block but no one knows  which fuse  is for  which flat  ...this flat is No 32 .    So the usual fun & frolics because some tosser couldn't see that  it might be important to know that one day .

Bit like those boards in old office blocks .... circuits marked     " Mr Simson's office"    .   You find he retired in 1950  .

These are quite good for that kind of situation: https://www.kewtechcorp.com/products/electrical-testing/ffinder2

In the absence of it, I think I'd switch a light on, station a mate (or the client) to look at it, and call them up on mobile from the basement as you quickly switch off switchfuses untill you get it.... by the time the complaints come you'll have done what you need to :D

(or knock them all off together, give for a little bit then quickly fly through them and have your mate shout as soon as it comes back on in the flat, can then be plausability passed off as a HV fault cleared by the re-closer!)

There are 5 available at four local Screwfix outlets near me...

But at £30+ I am not surprised they have decided to stop selling them...

If they cannot produce an RCBO at a more reasonable price then they deserve to lose customers!

I can't actually remember the last time I supplied and fitted an MK board.. as the costs were not competitive enough ?

I have long been a fan of Hager for that reason.

You mean like the industrial unit I look after.

I had to change the hand dryer in the gents toilet.  I thought I had struck gold when I found an MCB labelled "gents hand dryer" so i turned it off. And then heard a distant groan as I had shut down an office full of computers.

Re MK boards, the big reason I have not fitted one for years, is they keep changing the size and style of the breakers. you try fitting a current MK mcb in a 20 year old MK board, it looks shyte like it is the wrong one.

OOooooh NOOoooooo!!        I did the same thing at a Barclay's Bank in Wolverhampton ,   in the basement we were re- tubing & wiring for new lights ,  there was a fuse marked " Strong room lights "  so I pulled it .             The lights remained on .    As we puzzled over it a girl came down from the  3rd floor saying have switched any electric off .

It turned out to be a radial from the basement powering the devices that read all the cheques paid in that day .......apparently it stored the  data then sends it to London at

4pm .  So it was all lost & they had to stay late & do it all again .    Ooops .

I recall being told that Screwfix bought all the remaining stock and I'm guessing they are using this "position" to make money

The one I located near me was at CEF and they have a few - but I'm guessing not for long

I can't believe that MK have stopped supporting their products in such a way !!!!!!!!!!!

Is there an oficcial press release?

Have they just stopped selling CU's or have they really stopped selling spare mcb's etc as well?

If the latter, then anyone fitted an MK board in the last year would surely have a case for a replacement as it's no longer supportable under warranty?
