In all honesty, I found the old top gear pretty boring it was only the star in a reasonably priced car and the interaction between presenters that made it fun, the format of the actual programme was pretty much the same week in week out and it became less interesting.

True that, I used to watch every week then became less n less bothered and would occasionally watch on catch-up. Got very repetitive towards the end, they were and still are flogging a dead horse  :DeadHorse:

It must have made the BBC a **** load of money....

About £50 million if my memory serves me correctly.

My mates misses works for the Guardian Broadcasting Company - she hated the original TG and wanted it scrapped - but she had no idea that its income was helping pay her wages !

People forget that when Clarkson, May and Hammond started the chemistry was not there and the format was very different.  The natural chemistry developed and they slowly developed a format that was fantastic.

The new crew need time.  It will be a couple of years.

Having finished the series now I think they ended on a high. The last 2/3 episodes were great and I really enjoyed them. Seems they have got through the nerves and there is a hint of chemistry. Looking forward to the next series now.

TBH I had "adjusted" to the new team and enjoys Top Gear once again. May be Top Gear needs a guest presenter each week like Have I got News for You!

Mananged to catch a recent episode ....some different blokes driving up & down a disused airstrip doing handbreak turns. :C
