As a responsible forum I must also point out for health and safety reasons that suitable eye protection, http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Tool_Cordless_Index/Dewalt_Safety_Glasses/index.html,  should be worn before using the big hammer method.

Had a customer with one of those Fire angel alarms that connected to a lamp holder that wouldn't stop beeping and there was no way of turning it off so instead of smashing it I buried it at the end of their garden and it continued to beep for 3 months! :slap

Hi all,

Thanks for all the tips.

Ended up using a combination of your advice.

1) Earplugs

2) Remove cover

3) BIG HAMMER to smash speaker plastic cover

4) Snip wires.

5) Sweet sweet silence.

Helpful bunch you are. Don't imagine I'll be back here soon so thanks and all the best.
