Maybe OK IF it's a straight forward heating element with no electronic control of temperature (I assume it is this or you wouldn't be asking about the dimmer). If however it has temperature control built in either fixed or variable, probably not.Is it OK to use a Dimmer Switch (400W/VA Min.Load10W) to control the temperature of a solid tip Pyrography Pen (230V 50Hz 30W).
Is there any form of temperature control on the pen, or a light that comes on when it's warmed up?Thanks for the answers. I just wondered if something intended for use with light voltages would be OK with a heating element. Shows how much I know. Doh.
That should be ok then. Some of the pens even though there isn’t an adjustable temp controller still have one to give rapid warm up and constant temperature.Yes, I put in the original question that the dimmer is '400W/VA Min.Load 10W' and it doesn't have a temperature control that's why I wanted to add one.
